Judith Schwarz’s new project Other:Mother also played their first gig at the festival. Featuring modular synthesizer, treated piano and Schwarz’s mesmeric and eye-catching drumming the music moves between Musique concrète to film noir and creating music for a ‘disturbed dream’ but which was hugely enjoyable.

Judith Schwarz. One of today's most striking personalities on the fur/metal instruments and the outstanding musician of the evening, without wishing to belittle the others. It is clear that “Little Rosies” only exist as a collective. But Judith Schwarz made the light and heavy parts dance with such impetus, kept them constantly bubbling, whirled cross and complementary rhythms so nimbly, always placed the beat in a decisive position, surrounded by resourceful accentuation patterns, that it particularly outshone the collective “gimmicks”. Extraordinary sensitivity and impressive emotional power also weighted each of her strokes. Schwarz's playing was the motoric sting in the compositions. Ideas in this regard all came from Little Rosie's “Brothers and Sisters”.

And if the French were in apprehension, without counting on a promising discovery, one heard the Austrian percussionist Judith Schwarz - in duet with Lisa Hofmaninger (alto and clarinet bass), who has a very melodic playing, full of colors and accessories (log drum, prepared toms, archet, a lively drone, speaking phrases, etc.) as well as presenting a lively and sensitive beat. Follow very closely: She is not thirty years old.
